VBG demonstrates revolutionary coupling
A completely new universal coupling attracted a lot of attention in VBG’s showcase at Lastbil 2006.
“This is a big thing which we have been testing in the field for six months now,” says Melker Persson, district manager at VBG.
The new coupling is still not in production and it remains uncertain when it will be coming out on the market. First it has to be tested very thoroughly out on the roads.
“The most important thing is that we can guarantee the functionality and operating reliability, and it will be tested for thousands of kilometres before we release it on the market,” says Melker Persson.
The coupling has been developed by VBG’s own development department and when it comes out on the market Melker Persson believes it will be something of a revolution for commercial drivers. With the new coupling you can disconnect your trailer by just pushing a button inside the cab. The air, hydraulics and power are all incorporated into just one coupling unit.
“Commercial drivers here at the trade fair have seen the advantages of this coupling, and I’ve been test driving it all day. It means they no longer have to keep getting out of the cab to disconnect their trailers. Everything takes place automatically.
