OnSpot automatic anti-skid protection, now also for light trucks and minibuses

Heavy vehicles have been benefiting from improved safety on winter roads with OnSpot since the seventies. Drivers of light trucks now have the same opportunity of gripping power in just seconds at the touch of a button.

Long sought-after

VBG often received enquiries from industrial representatives for anti-skid protection for light vehicles, once they became accustomed to having OnSpot chains on heavy vehicles and the higher level of safety this implies. For obvious reasons there is limited space on light trucks and minibuses for installation of OnSpot and the requisite compressed air components. After an extensive development programme VBG can now present a flexible solution that embodies the company’s stringent demands.

A great comfort

OnSpot is a product that has been thoroughly tested and it has proved to be extremely reliable. The automatic chains can be used at speeds of up to 50 km/h, and give a gripping power in just seconds during both braking and acceleration that is unmatched by any studded tyres. Lighter vehicles are often used by the rescue services, for distribution or for transporting schoolchildren in rural areas, with many stops and starts. Slippery roads with poor winter upkeep and the sudden appearance of ice patches often make it difficult to stop or even get started, but OnSpot will more often than not solve these problems and improve safety.

Compressed air “on top” an extra finesse

VBG also expects a lot of people to make use of the opportunity to fit vehicles with extra equipment when they have compressed air. It can be used for a variety of applications such as blow guns, pumping up tyres, air cushioned driver seats, high intensity horns, and a lot more.

Rear-wheel drive a must

The new OnSpot can be installed on light trucks with rear-wheel drive. It is delivered in complete installation kits with all the cabling, the compressor, compressed air tank and vehicle brackets. On its introduction in November 2005 there were unique model attachments adapted for the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 300 series and Volkswagen LT 35, two of the most common models on the market, but attachments for most other vehicle models will be available by the spring.
