Cylinders

If the cylinder housing is damaged, the entire cylinder must be replaced with a completely new cylinder. All Onspots now use the short cylinder variant. Older long cylinders can easily be replaced with short cylinders. The length of the adjusting screw identifies the type of cylinder you have (see diagram). The exception to this are cylinders for Onspot 56-646210 (Volvo 4x2 airsprung), which must be replaced with cylinder 56-103810.

There are three different lengths of adjusting screw; measure the adjustment screw and use the table to find which cylinder you have.

Angular toggle joint

In older Onspot designs that have a separable angular joint the cylinder can be rebuilt so that it fits newer angular toggle joints.
1. In instances where ball stud 56-105601 is bolted to the arm:
Replace both the old angular toggle joint with new joint 56-251700 and the old adapter with the new adapter:
56-098201 (Onspot 01, 03)
56-098202 (Onspot 04)

2. In instances where ball stud 56-105601 is welded to the arm:
Replace with a new arm; see the spare parts list for each model (previously there was only one type of Onspot 04).
Replace both the old angular toggle joint with new joint 56-251700 and the old adapter with the new adapter:
56-098201 (Onspot 01, 03)
56-098202 (Onspot 04)

Cylinder disassembly tool

Great care should be taken whenever you do work on or replace parts in the cylinder.
Air cylinders have substantial inherent spring power.
Therefore you should always use the cylinder disassembly tool when undertaking these procedures.
