Why are the installation plates for the drawbars not painted on both sides? Does this not mean less protection from rust?
A very legitimate question indeed! It’s like this. The plates consist of part of a friction joint, that would not have the right strength with a thick, high gloss powder coating against the sidemembers. That’s why these surfaces must not be painted. Nevertheless, the installation plates have undergone all the other steps in VBG’s advanced corrosion protection process, so there is no risk of any rust!
